Luke Keith’s diary entries of September 22-30, 1873

Sep 22 – Worked in shop some. Worked at Theodores stuff for car. Hawley brot down some things.

Sep 23 – Hawley moved to day. Came down, hogs, cow and all. Fine day. Eugene came here. He was posting bills.

Sep 24 – Fine morning this. Ethan and Hannah got home. Lois and Mrs Skinner here.

Sep 25 – Built fence down to corner of orchard. Sarah went over to burg. Stayed with Jane Hoag all night. Cow got out. Smith Shapsteen buried to day.[97]

Sep 26 – Ethan went over to burg after Sarah. Went down to Catharines in afternoon. Hawley and Ethan picked up load apples. Filed saw for A. Brown 25.

Sep 27 – Hawley and Ethan went up to cider mill. Made 70 galons. Made handles for Maple Grange. Sarah went over to Jane Hoag. Eugene came in Evening. Put hogs in pen.

Sep 28 – Hawley put bell on his cow. Put cows in woods. Rainy day.

Sep 29 – Worked on Skinners wheel. Hawley drawed manure. Ethan boiled cider. Eugene went to Kalamazoo. Ethan went over after Sarah. Spencer Thomas cow got in here in Evening.

Sep 30 – Finished Dels wheel and Marts Grange tools. Hawley moing for Mr Taylor. Spence Thomas cow got in here, eat up pumpkins. Caried Hannah and Ethan down to Catharines. Mart paid one Dollar. Jo Flanders paid Eight Dollars for making wheels.
