Aug 7 – Very hot and dry. Ethan working on machine.
Aug 8 – Hot. Claud went over to burg after Lois and Ina.[108] I put finger board on my violin.
Aug 9 – I took Lou and children over to burg. They went home. Claude went to Kalamazoo with Charley Town.
Aug 10 – At home. Nancy went over to Lois in Evening. Bess came back with Ethan.
Aug 11 – Took Hannah over to Lois. Got the tires put on carriage $1.50. No rain yet.
Aug 12 – Went over to burg 355 lbs feed mixed 4.43. Not much work. Drew three loads wood. Hot and very dry. I. D. L. Schram thrashing.
Aug 13 – Looks like rain but he not come. Mr Whitcom thrashed. Mr W. W. Olins silver wedding this Evening.[109]
Aug 14 – Not very well. Very hot ad dry. Nancy and girls over to Lois. Hannah over to Town.
Aug 15 – Not much work. I not very well. Ethan work on binder. Hannah up to Culls. Trains met at Augusta the Limited Express and Freight, Engineer & fireman killed.[110]
Aug 16 – At home. The Advent Camp Meeting commenced to day north side of the river about 100 rods from our house.
