Luke Keith’s diary entries of September 11-21, 1873

Sep 11 – Worked on case some. Went down to Catharines after Hannah.

Sep 12 – Worked on case. Henry and Ethan worked on machine. Henry went to Comstock.

Sep 13 – Working on case for their machine. Henry and Ethan gone to Kalamazoo. Paid I. D. L. Schram one Dollar on Order.

Sep 14 – Mode hook for case to telegraph. First ice of the Season.

Sep 15 – Finished case. Mr and Mrs Hawley came down here to take farm. Henry and Ethan went down to Mr Fords in Evening to be Swared[?] on their machine.

Sep 16 – Carried Ethan and Hannah Sarah over to burg. Sarah went to Janes. Ethan and Hannah went to Grand Rappids State Fair. Henry Leroy came here stayed until Evening. Went over to burg with Mr Hawley came down cultivated in forenoon, went home. Gave up sowing my wheat.

Sep 17 – Rainy Morning. Not much done to day. Dilinbecks Bull in my garden this morning.

Sep 18 – Went down to Catharines to see about working her land. Pleasant day. Mart making cider. Spence Thomas cow in my garden this morning, in all night.

Sep 19 – Cut tree up in south lot for wood. Cut one Hickory tree. Spencer Thomas cow in my lot. Cut popcorn what was left after Thomas cow had been in and got her part.

Sep 20 – Chored round house and barn. Put cornfodder in barn. Jim husked corn for A. Brown. Hawley came down to see about moveing. Fine day.

Sep 21 – Pleasant morning. At home all day.
