1864 Letters

August 25, 1864 letter to Sarah Keith from D. C. Crawford

August 25, 1864

To: Sarah Keith

From: David (D.C.) Crawford,  ________ City, CO

The plains between Colorado and the states are covered with bands of hostile Indians cutting off communications and supplies. Everyone is trying to fight Indians and he expects to go in a few days. All kinds of business have been suspended and Denver is under martial law. David will try to keep his promise to come home in the fall. Says to direct his mail to Sterling City “as usual.”
