Luke Keith’s diary entries from December 15 – 26, 1861

Dec 15 – Pleasant. Went over to Fathers. Catharine & Mark there.

Dec 16 – Worked on Mr Turners thing. Bot canvas 12¢ Brads 12¢ sulpher 12¢ Postage 6. Sent letter to G. T. one to J. S. K.[70] Richardson most 1 cord wood.

Dec 17 – Pleasant. Worked on Buggy box. Put on back pannel. Paid corporation tax 1.67.

Dec 18 – Worked on buggy seat. Bot salearatas 10¢. Wightman paid 5¢.

Dec 19 – Pleasant. Wightman paid 5¢. Worked on bugy Boddy some.

Dec 20 – Went up to Milfords. Matthews made churn dash for C. P. Galligan. Bot violin string 15¢.

Dec 21 – Worked on bobs. Filed saw for Wesley 10¢. D. Lamkin Brot Hay. C. P. Galligan paid 50.

Dec 22 – Went up to Yorks & Fathers. Cold & snowy.

Dec 23 – Went over to Jesse Earls. Got 1376 lbs bran of D. Affleck. Bot oil can 50¢ & oil 39¢.

Dec 24 – Worked in shop on Stove platform &c.

Dec 25 – Bot stove & pipe nails Tacks candy & eggs 9.___. Put up stove. Bronson Brot lumber.

Dec 26 – Worked on runners for York. Sawed out bob runners for B. Clark. Bot hat 1.50¢. Smith paid 10¢.
